Hyundai Genesis: SRSCM / Front Impact Sensor (FIS) Repair procedures

Removal of the airbag must be performed according to the precautions/ procedures described previously. |
• |
Before disconnecting the front impact sensor connector, disconnect the front airbag connector(s). |
• |
Do not turn the ignition switch ON and do not connect the battery cable while replacing the front impact sensor.

1. |
Disconnect the battery negative cable, and wait for at least three minutes before beginning work. |
2. |
Remove the radiator assembly.
(Refer to Engine Mechanical System - "Radiator") |
3. |
Disconnect the front impact sensor connector (A), and them loosen the nuts to remove the front impact sensor (B).

Do not turn the ignition switch ON and do not connect the battery cable while replacing the front impact sensor.

Install a new front impact sensor. |
2. |
Tighten the front impact sensor mounting nut.
Tightening torque :
8.0 ~ 10.0 N.m (0.82 ~ 1.02 kgf.m, 5.9 ~ 7.4 lb-ft)

Connect the front impact sensor connector. |
4. |
Install the radiator assembly. |
5. |
Reconnect the battery negative cable. |
6. |
After installing the front impact sensor, confirm proper system operation:
Turn the ignition switch ON; the SRS indicator light should turn on for about six seconds and then go off. |

Loosen the wheel nuts slightly. Raise the vehicle, and make sure it is securely supported.
2.
Remove the front wheel and tire (A) from the rear hub.
Tightening torque:
88.3 ~ 107.9 N.m (9.0 ~ 11.0 kgf.m, 65.1 ~ 79.6 lb-ft)
