Hyundai Genesis: Power Trunk Module / Power Trunk Module Drive Unit Repair procedures
1) |
Put on gloves before removing/installing the drive unit. |
2) |
Do not install or carry a push rod, controller and wire harnesses by holding it with bare hands . |
3) |
Be careful when removing the push rod, the trunk may close. |

1. |
Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal. |
2. |
Remove the left trunk trim after opening the trunk.
(Refer to Body - "Trunk Trim") |
3. |
Separate the power trunk module push rod pin (A) and then remove the power trunk module connecting rod (B). 
|
4. |
Remove the power trunk module & drive unit (A) after disconnecting the connector, bolts and nuts. 
|
5. |
Remove the power trunk module (A) after loosening the mounting screws. 
|
1. |
Tighten the power trunk module & drive unit mounting bolts and nuts.
Tightening torque :
6.9 ~ 10.8 N.m (0.7 ~ 1.1 kgf.m, 5.1 ~ 8.0 lb-ft)

2. |
Install the push rod in the hinge ball joint. |
3. |
Connect the control unit connectors. |
4. |
Install the right trunk trim. |
5. |
Check that the power trunk operates normally after connecting the negative (-) battery terminal.

Make sure that the connectors are plugged in properly. |

Check that the power tailgate operates normally. |

If the drive unit mounting bolt gets lost and it still
remains inside the chassis, the rattling noise caused by the bolt may
lead to customer complaints. |
2) |
Do not operate the power trunk module with the power connected while the push rod is removed. |
3) |
When changing the trunk module and drive unit, always perform the parameter saving process. |
4) |
Reset the power trunk module whenever a job is performed with the battery removed. |
5) |
Always check for normal operation when a power trunk module related part is changed.
When abnormal system operation is found, check the DTC Code and the connection of the wiring and cable. |

Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal. |

Remove the motor connector. |
4. |
Connect the motor terminals directly to battery voltage (12V)
and check that the motor operates smoothly. Next, reverse the polarity
and check that the motor operates smoothly in the reverse direction. If
the operation is abnormal, replace the motor.
