Hyundai Genesis: Panorama Sunroof / Rear Glass Repair procedures

In order to remove the rear glass, use the tools shown in the following figure:

1. |
Remove the movable glass.
(Refer to Panorama Sunroof - "Movable Glass") |
2. |
Remove the roof side molding.
(Refer to Body Side Molding - "Roof Side Molding") |
3. |
Pull the square wire (A) to the left and right, then apply a
force in the direction of the arrow to cut off the residual sealant.

To efficiently apply force to the cutting surface, make sure that the wire is not too long. |
|
• |
Make sure that you put on gloves to protect your hands from potential injury. |
• |
Be careful to protect your hands from burning due to the heat generated when handling the wire |
• |
Be careful not to break the wiring. |
|
• |
Be careful not to damage the body. |
|
• |
When using wiring, an assistant is necessary. |
|
|
4. |
Remove the rear glass (A) carefully without damaging it. |
• |
In order to mount the rear glass, use the tools shown in the following figure:

1. |
Install the roof side molding. |
2. |
Close the movable glass fully by pressing the panorama sunroof switch. |
3. |
Use a blade to cut off residual sealant (A) around body panel.

When cutting off the residual sealant around the body panel, be sure to leave the sealant of about 2mm from the surface. |

• |
Make sure that the body paint surface is not damaged at all. |
• |
If it is damaged, apply paint or rust inhibitor for maintenance. |
|
|
4. |
If rear glass (A) is reused, use a blade to remove residual sealant (B) around the body panel. |
5. |
Use alcohol or an air gun to clean up the edges of the body panel and rear glass. |
6. |
Use a sealant gun to apply sealant (B) around body panel (A).

When using a sealant gun to apply the sealant, make sure there are no gaps in the sealant bead to prevent water leaks. |

7. |
Install the rear glass (A) loosely on the body panel. |
8. |
Align the rear glass (A) and body panel before fully mounting the front glass. |
9. |
Apply tape to around the rear glass to prevent the glass from coming off.

If sealant is excessively applied, it may ooze out of the
body. Use alcohol or a cleaning agent to wipe off the residual sealant. |
|
• |
Mount rear glass and place the car on a flat surface at least for 4 hours. |
• |
If you have to drive the car, be sure to SLOWLY drive the car for at least 8 hours after mounting. |
• |
Advise the driver to avoid aggressive driving for 2-3 days, or driving on rough roads. |
